I know a lot of you have been waiting for this one. Last week I told you the sales gap you’re feeling isn’t necessarily a content problem, it’s a trust problem, and I promised I’d come back this week with real examples. If you haven’t listened to that episode yet, go back and start there first.
Today we’re going through real posts, real stories, and real scripts that have actually worked for me and my clients. Not theory, just the actual words.
A lot of you told me you know you need to build trust before you sell, but you freeze up when it’s time to actually write it. What do I say, how do I say it without sounding weird. That’s so normal, it was for me too when I started. Most people were never taught the actual words, just the general concept. So let’s fix that.
Quick reminder of the framework from last week. Your feed builds awareness, your stories build the relationship, and the sale happens in that in between space, leaning more on stories. Everything below is organized around that same idea, warm people up first, then make the ask feel like a natural next step instead of an ad.
Story Scripts for the Trust Building Phase
Diabetes coach: Post a single slide story with a poll. Something like, “Okay real talk, who else has stood in the grocery store staring at a nutrition label like it’s written in another language?” Give real poll options, not just yes and yes, something like “yes, all the time” versus “not really.” Wait an hour or two, then re-share the results and say, “A lot of you are dealing with this too, here’s the number one thing I look for first,” then move into a talking head reel teaching that thing.
Dog trainer: Post a video of a dog going off at the mailman, or a point of view story, “your dog is losing it at the mailman again and you’re standing there like we’ve talked about this.” Add a slider sticker asking how many times a day this happens. Re-share the results the next day and say, “Most of you said at least twice a day, let’s talk about why this is happening,” then teach it.
Realtor: A simple face-to-camera story. “Hey, I just left a walkthrough and I have to tell you about this thing a buyer asked me that honestly stumped me for a second.” Walk through what happened and how you handled it.
Story Scripts for the Pitch Phase
Diabetes coach: “This is literally the meal I ate an hour ago and my numbers stayed flat the entire time. If you want the exact plan behind meals like this, that’s what we build together inside coaching.” Or point people to a free webinar instead if that’s your offer.
Dog trainer: Use a countdown sticker on a group class filling up. “Not gonna keep bugging you about this, but wanted you to know spots are closing soon.” Link straight to sign up.
Realtor: A poll sticker, “Are you thinking about buying, renting, or selling?” Then based on the results, “Since a bunch of you said thinking about moving, here’s the one thing I’d tell you to do first.” This keeps building trust while opening the door to a DM conversation.
Reel Scripts
Diabetes coach: “If you think you have to give up carbs completely to manage your blood sugar, watch this.” Walk through the myth, show the real approach, close with, “This is exactly what we work through in coaching together.”
Lactation consultant: “If you’re worried your supply is gonna drop as you get back to work, here are the three things I’d want you to know.” Teach the three things, then close with your group coaching, a call option, or a resource they can comment a keyword to get.
Realtor: “You don’t need 20% down to buy a house right now. Here’s what you actually need.” Teach it, then close with, “If you want to know what that number looks like for you specifically, DM me the word down payment and let’s chat.”
Caption Templates
Dog trainer, carousel post: Start fully relatable. “I used to dread walking my own dog, like genuinely dreaded it.” Tell a real story, maybe your dog dragging you across the street. Then transition into, “This is how I fixed it with my own dog, and this is how I help my clients do the same. That’s exactly why I built my leash reactivity program, because I lived it too.”
DM Scripts
If someone reacts to your poll or story, don’t lead with a pitch. Offer something free first. For the diabetes coach example: “Hey, I saw you reacted to that meal post, funny enough I have a freebie that shows you exactly this, want me to send it over?” For the dog trainer, if someone comments “omg this is my dog too,” reply and then follow up with a free resource, not a paid offer right away.
Think of your DMs like checking in on a friend. Not a sales pitch, just genuinely helping. That’s what keeps it feeling natural instead of pushy.
