The Simple Weekly Instagram Routine I’d Build If I Were Starting Over Today

Wanna work together? Cool, me too.

When I’m not on the ‘gram, I’m popping into your inbox to help you be more successful on IG

Should we make this official? I’ll send you my Instagram Growth Roadmap immediately just for hopping on.

After working with hundreds of business owners, I can tell you the number one thing that keeps people from staying consistent on Instagram.

It is not a lack of ideas. It is not laziness. It is that nobody has ever told them what a realistic week actually looks like.

How much time does this actually take? What do you do on Monday versus Thursday? Do you batch everything or just wing it? Nobody talks about the actual logistics, so people either way overcomplicate it or they give up entirely.

Today I want to fix that. Here is the exact weekly routine I would build if I were starting from scratch, and I promise it is so much simpler than you think.

Why Consistency Feels So Hard

Most people treat Instagram like one giant, looming task that lives on some imaginary free day that never actually comes. There is no free day. There is just regular life and Instagram has to fit inside of it, not the other way around.

Here is the reframe I want you to hold onto: Instagram is a revenue-generating task. Not something extra you do when you have time. Something you prioritize because it directly affects whether your business grows. Once you start seeing it that way, it becomes a lot easier to protect time for it.

The routine I am sharing today is not about being perfect. It is about having a simple, repeatable structure so you always know what you are doing and when… and you stop starting from zero every single week.

The Weekly Routine: Broken Down

Sunday or Monday: Your Planning Window (20 to 30 minutes)

This is not content creation time. This is just a quick planning session where you look at the week ahead and make some decisions so your brain is not scrambling later.

Ask yourself: what do we have going on this week? What are we selling or talking about? What is the anchor topic…something from your own ideas, something a client has been asking about, a piece of past content that did well?

Then decide what you are posting and when. That is it. You are not writing captions yet. You are just making the plan so you are not making those decisions at 9pm on a Tuesday when you are exhausted.

For my one-on-one clients we do this monthly so we have a structure for the entire month. Do whatever feels most sustainable for you.

Your Batch Session: One Dedicated Creation Block (45 to 60 minutes)

Pick one day and one time that works for your actual life. This is your batch session, where you create the bulk of your content for the week.

In this block you are going to write your hooks, your captions, your talking head script, and put together your carousel if you have one. You are doing the writing tasks, not the filming. Think of it like task batching… writing your hook, your caption, and your reel script are all similar tasks. Doing them together is so much faster than breaking them up across different days.

The goal is to walk away with your content ready to execute, so when it comes time to film, you just pick up your phone and go.

Your B-Roll and Filming Day (20 to 30 minutes)

Pick a day when you feel good… you know, you have your hair done, outfit you like, whatever makes you feel like yourself. Then use that 20 to 30 minutes to film your talking head reel AND batch a bunch of B-roll at the same time.

B-roll is simple: you typing on your laptop, walking in and out of frame, holding a coffee, sitting at your desk. Generic lifestyle clips you can use over and over. You can do this once a week or once a month, either works. The point is that when it is 8am and you want to post but you do not feel like getting ready, you already have footage to work with. You just pull it, drop your text on screen, add your caption that you already wrote, and post.

If you want a different look for your talking head reel, just change your shirt. Keep the hair. Nobody notices.

Daily: 10 Minutes of Engagement

After you post (maybe an hour or two later) spend 10 minutes responding to comments and DMs. Watch a few stories from people in your community and actually respond to them.

That is it. No engaging for 20 minutes before you post. No engaging for 20 minutes after. Just reply to every comment and every DM you receive. Never leave those empty. That is the real engagement strategy…genuine human responses to people who showed up for you.

End of Week: 5 Minutes on Analytics

Before the week closes, just peek at what happened. What got the most saves? Did any DMs come in from a specific reel? What flopped?

You are not doing a full audit. You are just writing down your best two posts and your worst two and asking why. Then you use that to make smarter decisions the following week.

Here is my recommendation for tracking: pick ONE metric per month based on your current goal. If your focus is sales this month, look at website clicks, ManyChat replies, and DMs. If your focus is growth, look at shares, views, and new followers per post. Tracking everything at once is overwhelming. Tracking one thing consistently is actually useful.

The Fixes for Common Struggles

Fix 1: Stop Waiting for a Big Block of Time That Does Not Exist

The free afternoon is not coming. And even if it does, you will spend half of it scrolling for hooks and inspiration and then wonder where the time went.

The routine only works if it fits inside your real life. If your batch session is only 30 minutes, that is fine — but you need to know exactly what you are doing in those 30 minutes or they will disappear. Come in with a plan and execute it.

I personally do my Instagram tasks first thing in the morning because I know they are revenue-generating. Once they are done I move on to everything else. Find your version of that.

Fix 2: Decide Your Posting Days in Advance and Protect Them

You do not need to post every day. Three to five times a week is plenty. But pick your days — Monday, Wednesday, Friday for example — and treat them like appointments.

The decision fatigue of figuring out whether you are posting today is what drains people. Remove that decision entirely. The day is already decided. All you have to do is post.

Fix 3: Give Yourself Permission to Be in the Moment Sometimes

Batching everything does not mean you can never go off script. Some of the best content comes from something that happened that day — a client conversation, a thought you had, something you just had to talk about.

Leave one slot in your week for this kind of post. If you already have something going out that day, post both. The in the moment stuff is what makes your account feel alive. Do not sacrifice that for the sake of a rigid schedule.

Fix 4: Track One Thing Per Week

Pick one metric that matters for your current goal. Write it down at the end of every week. That is the whole analytics practice.

It does not need to be more complicated than that. Awareness without overwhelm — that is what you are going for.

The Bigger Picture

A routine does not need to be rigid. It just needs to become a habit.

Once you have it locked in — Monday I plan, Tuesday I batch, Thursday I film — it stops being a decision and starts being just what you do. And that is when consistency stops feeling hard.

The people who show up consistently on Instagram are not spending hours a day on it. They just have a structure that makes showing up feel easy instead of like one more overwhelming thing on the list.

You are your own highest paying client. Your business deserves the same time and dedication you would give to any client on your roster. Protect those blocks. Show up to them. And watch what happens to your results when you do.

Your Action Challenge

Put your batch session in your calendar this week. Pick the day. Pick the time. Treat it like an appointment you cannot cancel.

Even if it is only 30 minutes. Just get it in the calendar before you do anything else today.

Want to Show Up to That Session With Everything Already Done?

If you open up your batch session and still do not know what to create — that is what the Plug & Post Membership is for. Every single week I package up your hooks, your captions, your content formats, and your talking head scripts. Then my new AI tool takes everything I give you, you tell it your goal for the week, your niche, your offer — and it spits out your full week of content in about a minute.

You just show up, copy it in, and record. No blank screen. No scrolling for hooks. No guessing what is working right now. I have already done all of that for you.
