You sit down, you plan the reel, you film it, you write the caption, you post it. And then you sit there refreshing the page. Three likes. Two of them are you and your mom.
And you think: what is even the point?
If that feeling is familiar, I need you to hear this — there is a very specific reason this is happening, and it is probably not what you think it is.
First: This Is Not a You Problem
Let’s get that out of the way immediately. If you are showing up consistently and posting regularly, you are doing the hard part. That is genuinely the biggest hurdle and you have already cleared it.

The problem is not your work ethic. The problem is not Instagram punishing you for some mysterious reason. Something else is going on — and once you see it, you will not be able to unsee it.
There are three reasons your content is going out into the void. None of them are about posting more.
Reason 1: Instagram Doesn’t Know Who to Show Your Content To
The algorithm needs signals to figure out who your content is for. And if your last ten or fifteen posts are all over the place — a product post here, a motivational quote there, a meme, a tip, a personal story — with no clear connection point running through them, Instagram genuinely cannot figure out who to put your content in front of.
So it just… doesn’t.
Consistency of topic matters just as much as consistency of posting. That is not to say you can never post something personal or off-brand. You absolutely can, and you should — that is what builds real relationships. But when you are talking about fifteen different things on your page, the algorithm gets confused. And a confused algorithm means limited reach.
Instagram needs to learn your account. Give it something clear and consistent to work with.
Reason 2: Your Content Is Informing People But Not Making Them Feel Anything
In 2026, the content that gets saved, shared, and commented on makes people feel something first. Not just informed — something.
Relief. Surprise. Recognition. Humor. Validation.
If your posts are solid tips but they are not hitting an emotion, people will consume them and keep scrolling. They will think “oh cool, good to know” and move on without engaging. And without engagement signals, Instagram stops pushing your content out.
Watch time is the number one engagement signal, which means you need people watching your reels all the way through — ideally more than once. A six-second reel that gets watched once is not going to move the needle. You need content that makes people want to rewatch, save, or send to a friend.
Ask yourself before every single post: how does this make someone feel? If you cannot answer that, rewrite the hook.
Reason 3: You’re Measuring the Wrong Things
This one is big. If you are using likes and follower count to decide whether your content is working, you are going to feel defeated constantly. Those numbers are not telling you the full story.
The metrics that actually matter right now are saves, shares, DMs, and link clicks.
A post with twelve likes and forty-seven saves? That post is working. You just did not know it because it did not look impressive from the outside.
Honestly, most of Nicole’s posts have more saves than likes — and that is a great sign. It means people find the content valuable enough to come back to. That is exactly what you want.
Stop measuring success by what is visible to everyone else. Start measuring it by what is actually happening inside your insights.
Now Let’s Talk Fixes
Fix 1: Pick a Lane and Stay In It for 30 Days
Look at your last ten posts right now. Is there a clear theme? A clear person you are talking to? If the answer is no, that is your starting point.
Narrow your content down to two or three topics within your niche and commit to them for thirty days straight. Give Instagram enough consistent signal to figure out who you are and who you are for. Once it learns, your reach opens up.
Fix 2: Ask How Every Post Will Make Someone Feel Before You Hit Post
Before you share anything, stop and ask yourself one question: how does this make someone feel?
Relief? Validation? Curiosity? Entertained? Pick one. If you genuinely cannot answer that question, do not post it yet. Go back and rewrite the hook until the answer is clear.
This single habit will change the way you create content completely.
Fix 3: Go Look at Your Saves and Shares Right Now
Open your Instagram insights. Ignore the likes. Find the posts with the most saves and shares. Write those down.
That list is your content blueprint. Those posts are already telling you exactly what your audience wants more of. Your only job is to make more content that looks and feels like those.
And while you are in there — stop creating content around “three ways to blank” or “six tips to blank.” That style of content worked in 2014. What is working now is I-centric, perspective-driven content. What did YOU do to get from A to B? What did your client do specifically? What transformation happened and how?
Stories, specific results, real perspectives — that is the content that moves the needle right now.
The Big Takeaway
Posting into the void does not mean Instagram is broken. It does not mean you are bad at this. It means your content and the strategy around it are slightly out of alignment — and that is completely fixable.
Consistency got you to the starting line. That is genuinely huge and you should feel good about it. Now it is time to put on your detective hat, look at what the data is already telling you, and post a little bit smarter.
You do not need to post more. You just need to post with more intention.
Your Action Challenge
Go into your Instagram insights right now — after you finish reading this — and find your top three posts from the past three months by saves and shares. Write them down. That is your content blueprint.
Your next post should look like those three. Start there.
And when you do it, come find Nicole on Instagram at @nicoleialeggio and share your wins. She will show up in your notifications and hype you up. That is a promise.
