The 3-Step System to Plan a Week of Instagram Content in Just One Hour

Wanna work together? Cool, me too.

When I’m not on the ‘gram, I’m popping into your inbox to help you be more successful on IG

Should we make this official? I’ll send you my Instagram Growth Roadmap immediately just for hopping on.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed trying to keep up with Instagram content, you’re not alone. Many entrepreneurs struggle with Instagram growth because they’re inconsistent with posting—and inconsistency often stems from not having a clear plan. But what if I told you that you could plan a week’s worth of content in just one hour?

In this post, I’ll walk you through my simple, three-step system for creating high-quality, engaging content efficiently. Plus, I’ll show you how to leverage Instagram analytics, social media marketing strategies, and trending content like Reels and TikTok trends to maximize your reach. Let’s dive in!

Step 1: Define Your Posting Schedule & Goal

Before you start creating content, you need to be clear on how often you’re posting and what your goal is for the week. Ask yourself:

  • How many times do I want to post next week? (3–5 posts per week is a good starting point.)
  • Am I focused on selling an offer, growing my email list, or increasing followers?

While every piece of content can help with multiple goals, each post should have one clear call to action (CTA). For example:

  • If your goal is growing your following, your CTA might be: “Follow me for more Instagram tips!”
  • If you’re selling an offer, your CTA could be: “DM me ‘INSTAGRAM’ for details on my coaching program.”
  • If you’re building your email list, your CTA might be: “Grab my free guide—link in bio!”

Starting with a clear goal makes it much easier to create content that drives real results.

Step 2: Plan Your Three Core Content Types

Now, let’s map out your three main content categories for the week. These are designed to keep your content engaging and balanced:

Post 1: A Quick, Shareable Tip

Think of one practical tip your audience can implement immediately and want to share with others. Some ideas:

  • A kid’s sleep coach might post: “Did you know putting your child to bed earlier can help them sleep later?”
  • A coffee shop owner might share: “Did you know we have a secret menu item? Just ask for [name]!”

💡 Pro Tip: If you’re unsure what kind of tips your audience needs, check your Instagram analytics to see which past posts performed well. Or, browse the comments on larger accounts in your niche—people often ask great questions that you can turn into content!

Post 2: A Relatable Story

People connect with stories, so share something that makes your audience feel seen. Here are some ideas:

  • A personal experiment: “6 months ago, I started filming myself in public, and here’s what happened.”
  • A shared struggle: “I used to spend hours on Instagram with zero results. Here’s what I changed.”
  • A behind-the-scenes moment: “Here’s what running my business actually looks like.”

Post 3: A Talking-Head Video

For this post, show your face and talk directly to your audience. This could be:

  • A client success story
  • A real-time update on something you’re learning
  • A lesson you wish more people knew

Treat it like FaceTiming a friend—keep it casual, real, and engaging.

Step 3: Find Trending Audios & Edit Your Content

Now that you know your topics, it’s time to find the perfect Reels and TikTok trends to enhance them.

  1. Scroll with a strategy: Since you already have your content ideas, finding the right trending audio or format becomes much easier.
  2. Use hooks from other industries: Check out trending formats from niches outside of yours and adapt them. (Example: A real estate trend might work for a social media coach with a little tweaking.)
  3. Edit with engagement in mind: Cut out dead space, eliminate filler words, and keep the energy high. If your video has long pauses, viewers are more likely to scroll away.
